Jean Paul Uwayezu is a young Rwandan actor and comedian. Born in 1983 in the Western Province, he grew up in Rusizi district. He came in Kigali in 1994 and began advanced studies in 1997 at college Saint Emmanuel de Hanika where he obtained his diploma in Commerce and Accountancy in 2003. Following this, he attended Université Libre de Kigali, where he will graduate with a degree in Management March 2009.
From June to October 2008, Jean Paul played the lead role of Stetko in Kinyarwanda in the internationally-acclaimed play, The Monument in Kigali and on tour to six cities in Rwanda. As well he led talk back sessions with the public after performances, is a member of ISÔKO, and a permanent member of our acting ensemble. Since 2007 he's been a member of the Never Again theater club, participating in workshops and where he performed in the short play Question Mark, directed by Ugandan Garrisom Mayanja. Currently JP is writing and performing in the weekly improvised soap, Love across Boundaries at Torero Café.
He is fluent in English, French and Swahili, and his mother tongue is Kinyarwanda. He is very motivated to continue to work in theatre and film, would like to continue learning about acting, directing and writing, and l oves being a part of creating team spirit.
